My goal was 23:40 (7:37 pace). I knew the second mile was going to be a tough uphill, so I wanted to take advantage of the downhill in the first mile to bank some time against the uphill push, and then I wanted to hang on for the third mile.
All that went fine, but I felt completely gassed for the third mile. I had a little left in the tank for a final kick, but it wasn’t enough to get me back to my goal.
I think this will be my final 5k with an actual goal time/pace. I used to race 5ks by feel, and I think I’ve raced enough since my injuries to remember. I need to run this distance by feel again.
