Two things about owning a home that no one told me:
The filters in the hood vent over the range? They need to be cleaned somewhat regularly. Ours pop out and go in the dishwasher.
The hot water tank has a rod in it that helps delay the rusting of the tank. It’s called an anode rod and should be replaced every 3 to 5 years. Doing so extends the life of the tank.
Finished Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant. It started slow and choppy, but picked up towards the end.
Action is a practice of hope. Put another way, hope is generated through action. ‘Doing’ allows us to derive experience and meaning - it is through doing that we experience feeling.…
So I wake up every single day and decide to practice hope.

Hiyashi chūka from J. Kenji Lopez-Alt’s The Wok: cold ramen noodles topped with scallions, cucumbers, pea shoots, tomatoes, radish, slivered omelet, and corn.
Sauce is a mix of dashi, ginger, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, roasted sesame oil, chile oil, and toasted sesame seeds.
Last week I made the Bún Trộn Tôm (Vietnamese Shrimp and Rice Noodles Salad) with Citrus and Herbs recipe from J. Kenji Lopez-Alt’s The Wok cookbook.
I thought it was good! I look forward to making this one again. 4 stars ★★★★☆
