How I’m Making Old Fashioneds These Days

I’ve streamlined my old fashioneds to be super unfussy (at least for my home bar). Here’s what I do these days.

I’ve streamlined my old fashioneds to be super unfussy. Here’s what I do these days:

  1. In a rocks glass, add a luxardo cherry, a bar spoonful of simple syrup, a few shakes of angostura bitters, and a few shakes of orange bitters.
  2. Add a block of ice.
  3. Add an ounce each of two different brown liquors. Ideally a bourbon and a rye, but I use whatever’s handy. Right now it’s a bourbon and a scotch.
  4. Stir for a good 45 seconds.
  5. Enjoy!
