Last week’s The Wok recipe was Pepper Steak.
This was a straightforward dish with no new techniques or ingredients. From the recipe picture, I expected the “pepper” to be bell peppers, and there was a healthy amount of bell peppers, but there was also a full tablespoon of ground black pepper in the sauce. The prep was quick and easy.
I thought it was a good dish and found the black pepper dominant. My wife thought it was only ok and did not taste the black pepper. My son tried the pepper steak and helped himself to a bit more of it, saying “I don’t love it, but if you make it, I’ll eat it." My daughter did not try it at all, happy with her fried egg, rice, and rice seasoning.
I am cooking my way through J. Kenji Lopez-Alt’s The Wok cookbook. Read more about it.
