I like this. Emory Village is a lovely little area smack in the middle of neighborhoods and at the edge of Emory’s campus. It could be great.
The project includes a road diet that will reduce the travel lanes from five to three between Sam’s Crossing and Ashton Place. “It has a 10-foot path that runs along the entire stretch…and then a landscape strip that runs along the edge of the sidewalk”
I’m looking forward to this project getting done. I like a lot of what Avondale is doing with their city these days!
if you want to create a vibrant, transit-oriented development, you need to ask exactly what people will see when entering and exiting transit. Then, you need to make sure it is full of places to sit, talk, eat, and shop.
I thought this article about the importance of the first 100 meters around transit was interesting enough to submit as a “suggestion” to MARTA.
