Today we toured Antelope Canyon in Navajo Nation outside of Page, AZ. Then we drove back to Las Vegas to get ready for an early flight tomorrow.
Antelope Canyon
Antelope Canyon in Navajo Nation is a beautiful slot canyon with twisting walls of a Navajo sandstone. It is most familiar as a desktop background that shipped with Microsoft Windows.
Access to the canyon is only available through Navajo guided tours. About six companies coordinate groups and work to keep the canyon safe from vandalism and tourists safe from flash floods.
The canyon really is beautiful and the walk through it was easy. Our guide gave us tips on taking good pictures in the difficult lighting.
Drive to Las Vegas
After the canyon tour, we had lunch at a nearby bar and grill and then drove to Las Vegas. Our route took us a little north of our route to the Grand Canyon, meandering along the border of Utah and Arizona. We turned towards Nevada in Hurricane, UT, where we had gone through on our way to Springdale on day 1.
As we entered Las Vegas, we decided to take the “scenic” route down the strip to our hotel. I’ve never been to Las Vegas before this trip, and the strip is quite overwhelming.
We settled into our hotel and got packed up for our early flight tomorrow morning.
