Landscape Project 2024: Week Four

I’m so close to being done I’m surprised I’m not already. I spent this weekend spreading mulch, but didn’t have enough mulch (or time) to finish.

A paver stone path with a garden bed and house to the left, a narrow planting strip and retaining wall to the right. Plants are planted on both sides of the path. The right side and most of the left side has been mulched.

Week four, B

Early in the week I picked up nine more bags of mulch to finish the mulching job. Plenty, I thought, but I was wrong. I got everything mulched except for the final section of foamflower and ferns. I think four more bags should do it.

The magnolia is dropping leaves right now (when is it not dropping leaves?). I was concerned about the thick leaves blocking water under the mulch, so I took the time to pick them up before applying the mulch.

I plan to pick up the (hopefully) remaining mulch during the week and apply it this weekend. The only other thing on the project list is to repaint the trim for a small basement window that’s on the wall behind this bed. Every week feels like I am so close to finishing.
