Our son’s middle school installed metal detectors over the summer and this is a list of things they say might set it off:
- Scissors
- Umbrellas
- Earbuds
- Locks
- Metal water bottles
- Laptops
- Metal utensils used for lunch
- Three-ring binders
- Metal eyeglass cases
- Metal pencil and or makeup cases
- Metal cases, etc.
- Brass instruments
Half of those items are required school supplies! Feels like a mistake to implement a system that will have 100% false positives.
