A Long-Simmering Frustration with Social Media

I wish for a world where I can keep current with businesses and organizations without social media.

A general frustration I have with social media is how many business and organizations have moved the entirety of their communication to it. Often choosing to leave a platform like Twitter or Instagram means no longer knowing what’s going on at my favorite coffee shop or not getting the latest information from local advocacy groups.

It seems like many of the most interesting new businesses launch without a website, just an Instagram account.

Many of the most interesting people and groups working towards a better world exist only on Twitter.

I would appreciate a world where I can keep current on information on websites (or newsletters! or RSS feeds!) that don’t require an account, that aren’t trying to exploit my “engagement.”
